Matthew Larking, “Sachiko Kodama’s laws of attraction”, The Japan Times, Culture, Art, Nov/14/2017 (“Sachiko Kodama Exhibition — Eblouissant” at Seikado, Kyoto)

--- Despite Sachiko Kodama’s caution, the mesmerizing and meditative aspects of the artist’s small-scale sculptures tempt spectators to come up close.
---Generally, the mixing of art and science in contemporary art has resulted in the dilution of both in satisfying or compelling ways. Kodama’s current work exploring the possibilities of an unusual medium, however, positions her near the top of a short list.

Exhibition Review by Rémi Barbier on “Turbulence”(Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Paris) , Flash Art (International Edition), Vol.XLV, No.286, 2012

Mastermind Sachiko Kodama uses magnetic liquids that undulate and spiral with mathematical precision, creating a poetic and turbulent dance.

Jean Ippolito, The Search for New Media: Late 20th Century Art and Technology in Japan,Common Ground Publishing (July 6, 2012)

Kodama has invented a way to turn the innovative technique of dynamic magnetic fluid into objects of sculpture. The resulting imagery is very futuristic! They are sculptures that breathe and undulate with life. It is also a little eeric to watch.

In some sculptures, such as Protrude, Flow and Breathing Choas, the movement of the coursing ferrofluid appears wild and bestial. The "Morpho Tower" series, in contrast, involves various conical towers on which the spikes flower and molt with hypnotic harmony.
